All Ravalli County residents living on a County maintained gravel roadway are eligible to participate in the program which provides dust control at reduced rates. Applying these materials not only reduces dust, but also substantially enhances the surface stability of the roadway, reducing the corrugations and other distresses common to un-paved roadways during the dry summer months.
While dust control applications are very weather dependent, our goal will be to begin applications by May 9th. We have also done our very best to keep the cost to program participants as low as possible!
Ravalli County has awarded a contract to a private vendor to provide Magnesium Chloride dust abatement materials on a county-wide basis. Again this year, the abatement materials will be applied by the Road & Bridge Department with program participants paying only the cost of material at the contract unit rate.
THE 2016 PRICE IS $0.27 PER SQ. YD. OF ROADWAY SURFACE
Using the 2016 unit price, an 800 square yard application (300 feet by 24 feet) will cost program participants $216. In addition, the county will waive the normal $75.00 Dust Abatement Permit fee, and the $165.00 per hour roadway grading preparation fee.
Those residents desiring to participate in this program must complete a DUST ABATEMENT PERMIT available only at the Road & Bridge Department. The permit must be delivered with payment to the Road & Bridge Department at 244 Fairgrounds Road in Hamilton. We will not be mailing any permits. The minimum application that will be accepted under this program is 800 square yards. THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING A PERMIT APPLICATION IS MONDAY, MAY 2ND .
