Open Burning Ban Lifted - Press Release 9-9-19
September 9, 2019 10:00 AM
Ravalli County Commissioners lifted the open burning restrictions in Ravalli County today, September 9, effective at 10:00 am. Widespread precipitation has lowered area fire danger to MODERATE. Although the valley has received rainfall over the past week and cooler temperatures are in the forecast, we are asking our community to continue to keep fire safety in mind.
With open burning restrictions lifted, burning of organic debris piles, slash piles, ditches and fields is now allowed. However, during the fall burning season of September 1 through November 30, air quality restrictions may be in place on a day to day basis. Residents of Ravalli County must obtain and activate a burn permit prior to any open burning. Information about the Ravalli County burn permit program can be found at the Ravalli County website at https://ravalli.us/.
Warming and cooking fires continue to be allowed in Ravalli County. Recreational fires must measure less than 48 inches in diameter, be surrounded by a nonflammable structure and an extinguishing source must be available. Campfires cannot be left unattended and must be completely extinguished and cold to the touch before leaving the area of the fire.
