Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the concerns of the State of Montana, to protect the health and safety of our employees as well as the general public, the Clerk & Recorder and the Elections Office will be closed effective Monday, March 30, 2020, and will remain closed until further notice.

Although we will be closed, our staff will continue to work behind closed doors. If you need assistance, you can reach our office via mail, phone, fax, or email.

If you need to have something recorded or need a birth or death certificate, you can mail in your request, along with proper payment (see recording/filing fees) and a copy of your ID (for birth and death requests). We also have a drive-up drop box that you can drop your request in. Be sure to enclose your request in an envelope and address it to the Clerk and Recorder Office.

Note: For birth and death certificate requests, there are other options for providing ID as well as payment. Call 375-6555 for more information.

If you need to register to vote, update your voter registration, or request an absentee ballot, you can complete a voter registration form or absentee ballot request form and return the form via mail, fax, or email.
